Looking for something sushi, something Korean so my buddy suggested we check out Woory. He'd been here many times before and enjoyed many good meals but not since the recent change in ownership. Well, it wasn't good. The sushi was average and the Korean option I checked out, the bul kogi was mild in taste and just bleh. Service was perfect, the hostess talked with us about their grand opening and was always nearby when we needed something. Still the overall was just a snooze fest. Unless they they hire a new cook, can't say I'd go back anytime soon. If Bernard P.'s review is accurate and all staff are the same, how the heck could the food be so much lower in taste quality since the menu revamp?

This place is pretty awesome. I come here when I want to eat light and healthy! The bento boxes are a really good deal for your money -- you get miso soup, salad, half bowl of udon noodles, tempura, california roll and your choice of meat! the tempura is the best tempura i've ever had - perfectly crunchy. the salad dressing is also a favorite, creamy and tangy.

We found ourselves here because we were getting our car repaired across the street and we saw the sign for sushi. Mitsuwa (a Japanese marketplace in the area) was just too far of a walk, so we settled to try this new place that was nearby. The inside is cozy, with high booths for a bit of privacy. The server was friendly when we walked in, which is always a nice way to begin a dining experience. Miso Soup and a small green salad with deliciously creamy ginger dressing was a nice little complementary starter that they give no matter what you order. My husband ordered the Lunch Bento Beef Teriyaki, which he liked, albeit the size of the dish was a little small for the money. I'm all for smaller lunch portions, just bring down the price to match it. I ordered the Sushi Sashimi Bento Lunch special (see picture I posted), which had a California roll, a couple pieces of sashimi slices (salmon, tuna and red snapper), a couple pieces of tempura vegetables, a couple pieces of tofu and a half a bowl of Udon soup. It sounds like a lot of food, but I still didn't think it warranted the $12.50 price. I did like the presentation of the dishes, which IMO really go a long way. For the $27 (including tip) we spent on lunch, we could have feasted on Sushi and other goodies at Mitsuwa, so if you're in the Arlington Heights area, I suggest you go there. We may try eating here again if we wind up getting our car repaired across the street, and if we do, I'll probably try some specialty Maki rolls and hope that they're better than their California roll.

I am a true believer! I live in California, the home town of real sushi in America, but I gotta say, this place can rival with the best! The Dragon Maki is absolute! Another sushi dish with cucumber was amazing as well! They have a great mind, with few innovative combination of Korean and Japanese cuisine. Try this place out, you won't be disappointed!

Mmmmm... sushi. This place was *almost* worth the drive (I live in Bolingbrook). The staff would benefit from an attitude adjustment... uh, be nice to your guests. Gotta love the fresh sushi :)

It is a very sad day indeed. They have completely changed their menu and not for the better. No longer is it the old school, homestyle Korean joint I came to know and love, but now it is a Japanese sushi joint. Same owners, same waitstaff, same cooks, but because of the economic crunch, the owners felt that they had to revamp their menu to compete with the dozens of sushi joints in the area, which to me was a big mistake. The sushi was just average. We ordered a spicy tuna roll, california roll and a Black Thunder roll which had soft shell crab, eel and avocado. Unfortunately, because of the language barrier, I wasn't able to get masago on the outside of my california roll. The spicy tuna roll was only slightly spicy and the Black Thunder was just ok, nothing mindblowing. The salad and miso soup that came before were just ok. It is truly a sad day indeed when one of your favorite restaurants completely changes the menu and nothing that you've ordered was as good as what you previously had. I wish the owners luck, but they have certainly lost this customer. Next time I'm back in Chicago, I'm going to definitely skip this place.

My girlfriend and I decided to stop in here for lunch on a whim - we drive by all the time, and were finally overcome by curiosity and well-timed hunger. We were shown to our booth by our friendly waitress, ordered our tea, and skimmed the menu. Huge selection for such a little place; I was impressed. She ordered the sushi and sashimi special bento; I ordered the soba and california roll combo. While we were waiting for our food, the waitress brought us salads with a nice ginger dressing. We didn't have to wait too long before the food came out, and my goodness, there was a lot of it! My girlfriend's meal had a cali roll, two pieces of nigiri, some sashimi tuna, sauce-drizzled tofu, a small pile of tempura, and half a bowl of udon. My soba was more than I could finish, and it came with a roll too! All this is nothing without taste, though, right? Well, the taste was there. I was particularly impressed with the cali roll - such a simple thing, yet the proportions were perfect. Too many places overload on the cucumber to save on crab and avocado, but this one struck a perfect balance. Neither of us could finish, despite how delicious it all was. The waitress dropped off the bill, and when she came by again to pick it up, I pointed out that the only things on it were our meals. Had they perhaps forgotten the tea somehow? She explained that actually, they didn't charge for tea, then (when she returned again) thanked us for being so honest in pointing it out and gave us a 10% off coupon for next time! And there will be a next time - even with a 30+% tip, our total came to under $30. I was honestly (and pleasantly) shocked at how thoroughly this place blew my expectations out of the water. We are definitely coming back.

Fresh and clean flavors, good portion sizes, nice presentation, and fast service. The only thing keeping it from getting 5 stars is that the dinner prices are a bit high which limits my choices a bit. On the other hand, this place is quite a good deal at lunch time, especially for Japanese food. The salad is not overly acidic with the general mix of miso dressing and greens you get at most Japanese restaurants. The miso soup is less salty than what most people are probably accustomed to. The Korean noodle dishes are done pretty well without being over seasoned and having a good variety of textures. The bento combinations are quite a good deal when you consider that you get 7 items for about 13-16 bucks. In addition to the salad and soup, they also come with California rolls, shrimp/vegetable tempura, entree, seasoned tofu, and half a bowl of udon. All these items are prepared fairly well with good flavors, correct food temperatures, and good textures. The nabeyaki udon is also one of the best that I've found in the area as well. Great food and great experiences but I do wish dinner prices were a bit lower.

Wow! i've been here since it was just Korean food. I'm so glad they changed it to sushi too. Honestly though, I never really tried their sushi and I don't know why. It's a small place next to Happiness is Pets and in the same building as the floral shop. I usually come here with family and on occasion with friends. I almost always get their haemul kalguksoo... it's so hard to find a place that makes it, first of all, and then also makes it good. I'm so glad they kept their Korean menu. I'd be so sad without it because they make good traditional Korean food. One dish that I love here that may or may not be on the menu still is the JJol-myun. It's a Chinese-turned-Korean dish that is traditionally spicy. However, I love the way they serve it here with fresh shredded lettuce and lots of veggies. So healthy! They are known for their Korean bbq pork too. Now for the good stuff... the sushi. WOW.. I am so impressed with their nigiri. I'm more of a sashimi fan but since my boyfriend loves nigiri we went for the combo. The portion sizes were amazing and the fresh quality. We are seriously giving up our Sushi Para cravings from now on to order sashimi and nigiri from here. The quality difference is so worth it and since soup and salad are complementary. One thing I didn't take pix of were the mul mandoo or steamed dumplings... We always get them for the little kids who love them. I can't believe I always forget this place when it is so close to home. Oh, and if you work close, I highly recommend their lunch combos which are amazingly priced for the quality and portions.

Cozy and personal. The food was good and very affordable. Although, the server was very nice and friendly, the service was a bit slow though. I had to stand up to call for the waitress's attention for a refill on my drink, as well as asking for my check at the end of my meal. i can look pass the slow service because i came at around 1pm-2pm time frame, and they only had one waitress. I would still come here again.

This is my new favorite sushi place. The service is great. Atmosphere is cozy and not overwhelming. The fish is fresh and are generous in portion. Rolls are reasonably priced and quality of presentation as well as taste is top notch.
